Is he Lavender???

Hi Krista! How's your tribe doing?

Actually, there is such a thing as a lavender splash. Blue/splash and lavender are separate genes and both can act on black. So you can have a blue lavender, (black) lavender and a splash lavender.

Hopefully Sonoran will put her 2 cents in, she can explain the BBS and lavender thing far better than I can.

That's a hard one to call right now. Although he has a lavender hue, my understanding is that the shaft of the feather should be the same color as the fluff...not darker.

The other question is...does Jenn have lavender or split lavender birds? This would be required to hatch a lavender.

Possible but not very likely it's lavender, it takes two copies of lavender from each parent to be lavender, I bet it's a splash. Splash x splash a few times over will produce washed out splash birds. The best way to tell if it's actually lavender is to breed to a black split to lavender or another lavender bird, if it's genetically lavender then you will produce lavender birds from that breeding.
