Is incubation time for eggs the same when they're under a broody hen as when they're in an incubator

You guys are wonderful! Thank you so much for all the great advice! I lowered the nest yesterday and today I've already got a "maternity ward" pen started. I think that's a great idea about putting one hen with the new babies and leaving the other to keep sitting. I'm glad now there's 2 of them! :) Don't worry! I'll be sure to post plenty of pics of the new arrivals! I'm so excited! I've been going out every few hours to check, my DH thinks I'm being ridiculous but I don't care! I looked back at the dates on the first pics I took of them sitting and the 29th of april is the first one I took of them actually on the eggs and the 20th is when I took the first pic of their clutch, so I'm going to guess they actually started sitting in between those two dates. So I think hatch time should definitely be any day now! What do you guys think? There's a few eggs from the big hens I left in there (looked like they had something in them too) so I'm hoping one or two of them hatch too. The big girls are black stars and easter eggers. I'd love some of the chicks to be half EE!
What kind of banties do you have dawns funny farm? Do you have pics of your new babies?
What about you annanimal? Do you have any pics of your chicks? I've only had banty chickens since last summer and I'm hooked on them! I'd love to get some more! Are all breeds of banties broody do you think? Maybe it's just certain ones like the LF breeds?

I am glad you are having so much fun with your chickens!!

Those are my older ones the one behind is Peep and the other is Clucker...
If you go to my profile than you can see them jumping for some grapes that i have cut up.
I will take more pictures of the new chicks and send them to you!!

Great pics! I like how you've framed em and put their names on em! Cute names too! :) I'd love to see new pics of your chicks! Babies are just so sweet no matter what they're doing!

(Babies are just so sweet no matter what they're doing!) I know right...
Ok here are some more pics of my babies trying some apple for the first time.

Here are the chicks that i took from there mom while the other chicks were hatching

And here is their little basket that i was telling you about

And the basket with the sheet on top and my sweet angels sleeping.

Hope you enjoyed!!

AWWW! They 're just so cute I can't stand it! What are all of them? I see what you mean about the basket, as small as my banty hens are one would fit just right in a basket with the chicks while I'm waiting for the other hen to hatch the rest!

I dont know what they all are, i dont really care either i just love them all.
You dont have to put your chicken in the basket, i just put the chicks in their because it was small and they could all squish in there and be warm. You can put the mama and the chicks in the "maternity ward " that you were talking about and then when the rest hatch just divide them or if the two hens get along put them all together. Do you hear any peeping coming from the eggs?

I have 2 hens also that have new chicks. They are about a week apart. My intention was to let the mother stay with her chicks. How long will she need to stay with them. I have moved them to a large brooder box. Do mother hens usually accept chicks from another hen?

Well... it really depends on the hen, and the situation. If she is in a small enclosure than she will want out at an early time but one of my hens stayed with her chicks till they were about two and a half months old and then she started pecking them and chasing them but...other than that she was a great mama. Those chicks were free though, and even after that, i would see her in that general area checking up on them. Anyway the average chicken stays with them for about 6-8 weeks.
If she is a good mama than she will accept anything under a week old but in your situation you are adding new chicks in with the chicks that she already has so i am not sure that she is going to be very accepting of them, but you never know. I hope i understood correctly, you are putting one of the hens chicks in with the other hen and her chicks right?
