Is it a buisness or a hobby?

So my husband and I have had chickens for just over a year, they lay just enough eggs for us and my in-laws. We decided a couple months ago on a new breed, that is more suited to free ranging for most of their own feed. It's a rarer breed, with none in this area, and we thought maybe we would hatch some chicks to sell a couple times a year. Is this something that I need to worry about taxes with? I don't plan on making a fortune, but would make enough to cover feed costs. I prefer a simple hobby....obviously. Any advice?

Wow, that's a good question. I sure wouldn't think so. After all, how much money will you really make anyway? Right? I'd say it would be okay to do. Enjoy your chickens!

Unless you're making more than $5,000 a year from it no need for taxes even if you filed you'd get it all back.
