The comb is already huge and he/she/it is only 4 weeks old. We fear it's a Roo, he/she is the one everyone has bonded with.. :(

looks like a roo, might wait just a few more weeks just to make sure

Thanks for your replies! We are thinking the same thing, luckily Buff Roster sound like they can be pleasant little things...hoping so, we all like him very much!

If you are planning to keep your boy, what I like to recommend to folks is to offer him treats- single him out and offer just him some treats even before you give them to the girls.

He will then call the girls over and become popular with the ladies. He will appreciate you giving him the treats so he can get the credit. Also, roosters do offer each other treats and do the tidbitting call to each other. So he will realize you are trying to be friends with him.

This is something I'm going to try! Thanks for sharing this!

That's a great idea, we already spoil him the most....he has the biggest personality out of the 9 chicks we have. My 19 year old son has taken a liking to him and for at least an hour a day the little guy roosts on my sons arm out in the chair and regularly naps on him. When we call the chicks to go back in their run, he is always one of the first to come and if we don't pick him up he's always at your feet waiting to be. He definitely bosses the others around, right now it's pretty cute to watch. We are thoroughly enjoying this new experience.
