this will be week 6 wednesday the 13th . should have enough chick starter for two more weeks just didnt want to have to buy another 50 lb bag. because thats all they sell in my area for starter.

Sounds good enuf to me. You could also feed them the starter for longer.

Some folks keep them on starter right up until the time they begin to lay.

Other foods can be added to their diet as they become more adventuresome. Diluting the protein in starter a little as the pullets mature wouldn't be a bad idea.

I tried it at 9 weeks and they started pecking each other, I assume due to lack of protein. I switched back to starter and the pecking stopped. I plan to continue the starter all the way to point of lay now, just increasing the amount of kitchen snacks I give them.

I was told by a local farm that has 200plus free range chicks and goes through hundreds of meat birds, to just keep feeding the starter feed, unitl it's gone, even if you have to buy another bag...Because, what are you going to do with it? SAve it? you give your birds treats right. You would be wasting the food. They said it wouldn't hurt them...
hope this helps.
