Is it bad to feed a baby pullet layer feed for 2 weeks?

Don’t feed layer feed unless she is laying eggs. Get grower/finisher instead; they eat that all the way up to first egg.

Is it bad or dangerous that I fed her that for a couple of weeks?
Nah, they should be just fine. My babies were eating later pellets before I figured out a new eating system and they’re perfectly fine. I have heard that the extra calcium in the layer feed is bad, and I have heard that that’s just a myth. You still want to give them grower/finisher though because it has the proper combo of vitamins and amino acids for their growing bodies. As soon as they lay their first egg you can change the food; but I wouldn’t throw out the grower/finisher I would finish the bag and just offer oyster shells.... or mix what you have left with layer pellets similar to when you change a dogs food.
Don’t worry - your babies are more than likely going to be perfectly fine.

They will be fine. The Chick stater has ingredients that chicks need that layer doesn't and vice versa.

I mixed a bag of grower crumble with some layer pellets I had left over. They've all been eating it for 2 weeks. No one has gotten sick, no eggshell problems, no puny chicks. I think the younger ones are just excreting the extra calcium out in their urates. Will buy only grower next time I go feed shopping, and offer crushed eggshell on the side. I think the layer would be fine temporarily.

technically a chick stops being a chick when it becomes a pullet.... Better way to describe it is a young pullet... I think of pullets as Tweenagers... more drama than anything else...:gig

Flock raiser or grower is the next step in feed. I dont feed medicated anything... But they are still growing size and feathers so they need more protien and vitmines but Not the Calcium that Layer has.

Best choice has been for me is offering up Flock Raiser Free choice and Calcium source free choice... either oyster shell or ground up egg shells.... This way your roosters dont get too much calcium...
