is it bad to pet your chicken when they squat?

I have a flock of 17 chickens. They all started running up to me and squatting all at once. My family and me thought it was funny cuz we could pet them. Will it cause them harm to pet them when they squat?

Not at all. That usually means they are close to laying. The submissive squat. Pet away!

No.. You can pet them all they want! Chickens squat for the rooster can mate them. It is a sign they will start laying soon.
