Is it just me? Is this the end of the forum I used to enjoy so much?

I always check Random Ramblings. I believe it's specifically for "Off Topic" posts, is it not? I take that to mean that it's the place for political, or religious, or off-the-wall nonsensical posts. Half of the threads I don't read. If the title doesn't interest me, I pass it by.

Kinda like television or radio .. change the station. No one is forcing you to read, listen to, or watch anything you don't want to.

I am an old timer out here on the interwebs. I used to be a political chat forum monitor back in the day when AOL was cool. There is so much on this forum, you honestly have to go out of your way to find things to make you mad.

I am a duck people. I hang out in the duck forum area A LOT. Once I have gotten all I want in that area (or posted way too many pictures of my ducks), I venture out in to other areas. If all i wanted was duck information, I can find that in about 2 seconds and I am not obligated to read any rambling at all to get it.

One of the most fantastic things about this whole experience which is BYC, is that the Index itself is so huge..........you can post and read on whatever thread takes your fancy..... I for one use this forum and this one only... it is fantastic with a huge diverse membership whom I would miss greatly if it where "muddled" with. Random Ramblings is just that, to be able to chat about anything randomly, the whole purpose of the Index is that you get to choose where you wish to be on the forum. It is called personal choice and we are all entitled to it.... just my opinion, I for one would not leave............. especially Random Ramblings...... sorry to hear that you feel like that, and it is as though you are berating the whole index ... a little unfair methinks. The "Mods" here are amazing, do a wonderful job, and I don't envy them that position at all...... so come on chill a little and get back in there and "talk" on whatever part of the Index you are interested in..........

I am sorry you feel the way you do.
I tend to agree with some of what you are saying, however, our BYC family is just like any other family. If you don't like what they are saying or doing, either tell Mom and Dad (use report button) or go into another part of the house (go to another part of the forum).

There are parts of BYC I don't go into unless we get a report because they don't interest me personally.

As mentioned, Nifty-Chicken did an add-on that lets you minimize or expand certain sections. There is a + or - sign on the right side of each section. You can collapse a section or have it expanded as you please.

As for political posts/hot topics, personally I agree with you, however, we as moderators tend to leave them open as long as they stay civil. Not that they tend to stay open long either.

But we do discourage them as stated in the rules and you would be surprised at how many are reported and removed before the majority of the members ever see them. And there are a few that we are watching as a group now.

So we hope you stick around. It is worth it!

And for those of you who this fits, look in the rules about kindness. Nastiness is not helpful and I will be editing a few posts.
