Is it just me or are these chicks big for 2 weeks?

My Barred Rocks are 2 and a half weeks old. And boy are they growing fast! I been using a heating plate and an addition heat source keeping the area around 80 degrees in the shed.
I am surprised how fast they are feathering out!
Anyone else notice how fast they grow?! This is my 3 set of chicks. This is the first time I seen chicks feather fast and grow quickly. Been a few years ago. I am thinking they will need less heat if they keep this up- plan to wait til they are 6 weeks before removing heat. Please share what you are experiencing. Thanks

nice looking birds, take care of um good they can grow pretty quick lol.. here in florida this time of year i can have them off heat in 2 weeks, long as its above about 65 at night and not in draft, and they got nice bedding .. more problems 'with' heat actually, out in the garage i got to get them outta there by 2pm or theyre panting ..

I just raised 30+ barred rocks outdoors. They were off heat by 4wks, and enjoying the outdoors all day. This is them at that stage. I didn't really feel as though they feathered too terribly quickly, they definitely acclimated quickly and didn't even mind temps down in the 30s.

Beautiful birds! Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I been working outside - love Spring!
