Is it just my ducks or...?

Mine will come up sometimes at night...Most often if its dewy or has just rained - they go out slug hunting in the wee hours...One night I was up @ 2am - open the backdoor cause I hear one of the cats out there that wouldn't come in earlier - and theres the ducks all 10 of them with the cat QUACK QUACK QUACK they all go upon the door opening....like "Oh good mom's up - midnight snack mom?" you want to talk about the poo scared out of me!? the ducker alarms going off out of the blue when I'm least expecting it. but it had rained that night and theirs always a bunch of slugs that come from I guess under the house when it rains and are right on the side of the house or ground here - so the ducks go to town. lol I'm used to it now - they were out last night @ midnight and I bet again tonight as its raining off and on all day today here.

Wow.. I think it's my ducks that are goofy....... mine go to bed in the duck coop at night just like my chickens and we don't hear a peep out of them until dawn! I don't even have to "put" them to bed anymore, they go on their own. I just have to shut and open the gate, just like I do for my chickens!

Hahaha, I love these responses! I knew this would be an entertaining topic if I brought it up.

katharinad, it's good to know that their sleeping habits are like cats--that was what I was wondering more or less. Great to know! Well, I'm a night person, too, so it's good to know that if I ever want someone to hang out with in the wee hours, I can always go hang out with my ducks.
