I hope this is the right spot for this thread. Anyway It might seem like a weird question but I was wondering if it is legal to own canadian geese? Or if anyone on here has experience with owning them?

Thank you for sharing about Molly sounds like she has an awesome home. andHi Celizwalsh!
Molly, our Canada Goose, is about two months old. We took her as a recue from the airport.
We had no idea how to raise a goose, but thought we would feed and shelter her till she was old enough to fly away. Problem was, like chickens, they are social and you can't just have one.
We had ten 4 day old chicks at that time, and because Molly was so small, we just put her in with them. We were told that they cannot eat medicated chicken starter so we had to put a box around the chick feed with holes big enough for the chicks to go through but too small for Molly. Molly, we fed non-medicated chicken grower and tons of dandilion leaves.
Two months later, Molly and the chicks are the best of friends. All our birds, hens, broilers and now a goose, have free run of our property only being locked up at night.
Molly, takes the lead with the chicks following her where ever she goes. The chicks eat grass and weeds just like Molly, which sets them aside from our older hens that dig for bugs and worms.
Molly eats non stop.....grass is the main choice....and she poops non stop....but its nothing but grass fibers really and one rain fall and the droppings are gone.
We still feed her grower pellets but she barely nibbles on them. We have a pond which we've never seen her in, but she enjoys the deep paint tray I leave out filled with water.
At night she snuggles up in the nesting box with the chicks. We had to modify 2 boxes to make one so they would all fit in there.
When the chicks started flying up to sleep in the boxes, Molly would sleep alone on the ground and it was painfully obvious how sad she was. It's amazing how she radiates her state of being.
Her memory is amazing and she's very smart. If I want her to do something I simply tap out the task with my finger. For example...I wanted her to climb a set of stairs I made out with small bricks so I tapped each brick in the order of which she would climb. She watched me a couple times and then climbed the steps.
Now I know this is only one goose and my first experience, but from what I'm learning of her is that these geese are wonderful creatures and my attitude toward the Canada Geese are now of wonder and awe.
