I have all my things ready for hot composting and am following a pretty great reviewed guide on composting and I was just wondering if its normal for 1 day old composting to not heat up? Yes I have soil and stuff in there to "activate" the compost

Do you have a compost thermometer? I find that brand new piles take a couple of days to heat up depending upon what materials you are starting with.

no i dont, it was all grass and leave trimmings and everything with some tiny sticks as well and it has a lot of sticks at the bottom for aeration and has 1/8th holes every 2 inches all over it including the lid and the bottom and all 4 sides

It sounds like it should start heating up soon. The Berkley method of composting says to initially wait 4 days for hot composting to begin.
While not absolutely necessary for hot composting, I love my long composting thermometer! It lets me know at a glance if the pile is overheating or if the temperature is dropping and needs to be turned. They aren't very expensive and made our composting so much easier - our compost contains a lot of horse manure which can overheat very quickly.
This is the one I have: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002P5RGMI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
