Is it normal for chickens to be losing feathers this time of year?

so does molting during the winter pose a threat? If mine were to start molting would I need to heat the coop??? (they aren't, but they haven't laid any eggs in over three weeks, so I'm starting to wonder....)

Oh, my pretty birds have gone and gotten all Snag Nasty Looking with the molt too. I mean Ugly..........
