is it normal for chickens to not lay during molting???

so is it normal for my chickens to not lay while there molting??? if so how long after they finish should they start laying again???

Yup, its normal! Some dont stop at all, some just slow down a bit, skipping days and such, others quit completely. Its takes alot out of some hens to drop and re-grow new feathers, big protein requirements. You might want to up their protein in their feed to help them out, and up the calcium as well. It helps.

Its up to the bird as to when they resume laying, could be days, could be weeks. Usually not too long though.
 
Last fall my girls hardly laid an egg for 3 months while they were molting and this year they have been on strike for about 2 months now. Thankfully I have some pullets that just started laying.
