Is it normal for chicks to look ugly when growing feathers?

I dont know if they need to be washed because they look a bit dirty with their new feathers growing in or I don't know If they get in fights which is why they are balding so I'm wondering if it's normal for them (same with ducklings) about 3-5 weeks old to be looking "ugly"? When growing feathers

This is my first time with raising chicks and ducklings on my own yes and yes I'll send them when I get home im on the bus to go to school I'll be home by 730pm also don't worry my parent and sibling takes care of them when I'm at school
