Is it normal for chicks to look ugly when growing feathers?

I dont know if they need to be washed because they look a bit dirty with their new feathers growing in or I don't know If they get in fights which is why they are balding so I'm wondering if it's normal for them (same with ducklings) about 3-5 weeks old to be looking "ugly"? When growing feathers

Yes, it is normal. They can get a little bald in spots while their fluff is coming off and the feathers are growing in. Please don't ever wash a baby chicken!

This is my first time with raising chicks and ducklings on my own yes and yes I'll send them when I get home im on the bus to go to school I'll be home by 730pm also don't worry my parent and sibling takes care of them when I'm at school

Yes, they go through a ratty-looking stage.
