Is it normal for "nice" pullets to peck at me??

I would personally work up their confidence. My chickens will squat down a little and kinda hold their wings up a little when I reach for them if they are giving me permission to pick them up. My hen Amber really likes being picked up, but, this is because i have been training this into them since I got them. Different birds are going to have different temperaments and level of results. Amber is a Gold Laced Wynadotte for what it's worth. The one you see in my profile picture.

My adult hens will do this too! So maybe it's just a pullet thing? Maybe they are just young and aren't yet very confident.

Lol. They squat because you have triggered the "it's a rooster" instinct instead of running because you have triggered the "it's a predator" instinct. Or avoiding you because you triggered the "it's a higher ranking hen" instinct. Or pecking because you have triggered the "it might be food" instinct.
