Is it normal for so many eggs to be clear??

My suggestion is this.....let them sit til day 10. recandle then. I incubate orps constantly and sometimes they can fool you. At day 10 it should be perfectly obvious what's viable and what's not. I would contact the seller now and let her know what you think you've got and tell her you are going to wait til day 10 to be absolutely sure.

If she is a person concerned with repeat business, she will offer replacements. If not, unfortunately, chock it p to lesson learned and begin your "never buy from.... again" list. I have a very very long one!

She candled on day 9 scbatz....

I had the same thing happen with me. Out of 35 eggs, 10 were developing and 25 were clear. I checked the 25 and not one had developed anything. I just figure it's the rooster, he's a Cochin and is somewhat smaller than the hens. RIR & BR. So I think he only has one or two girlfriends. Because he is so much smaller.

With Orpingtons, their behinds get so fuzzy that all the hens are getting are "blanks". Trim their posteriors and re check their fertitlity.

I'm having the same issue with my brothers duck eggs. Today is day 14 I candled 8 eggs and 4 were clear and one just didn't look right so I pulled that one out too. We have two drakes and two hens so I know it's not to many hens to one drake so I don't know why we have such poor fertility.
