Is it normal for young chickens to lose feathers or pull some of their own feathers out?

Hi everyone! This is my first post here as I am new to raising chickens. I have 4 hens, 2 buff orpington and 2 barred rocks that are about 15 weeks old. Over the last several weeks I have noticed that there are a lot of feathers in the yard and in the coop. Is this normal? I saw one of the barred rocks pull out one of her feathers today, so I became concerned. There are no bald spots anywhere, they look perfectly normal, but I wasn't sure if I should be worried. I checked them for mites when it first started happening, but didn't find any. I live in Mississippi and it is very hot here already, so I wasn't sure if it was related to the heat? They have plenty of room to run around, so I don't think that is an issue. I have attached some pictures of the coop and yard. You can see some of the feathers on the ground in the picture of the chickens. Part of the yard is shaded, so they don't have to stay in the sun. Any thoughts or information you can share would be much appreciated!
