Is it normal...

Is it normal for young pullets to start laying for two days and then have nothing on the third day.
I guess I mean is it normally sporadic, do they normal start then stop again when they first start laying eggs.

It's not at all unusual. Some birds can take several weeks to a month till production becomes routine.

Just a follow up question, should I leave the fake eggs in the nest boxes for a while more.

I leave mine in there all of the time. I did take a black marker and drew a wavy line around the center of them so I could tell at a glance. The fake eggs are very close to the real things that my girls lay. The first one of the day seems to like having the fake one to settle down on. Then everybody else lays in the same box, sometimes 2 or 3 or even 4 at a time. LOL

Mine decided they liked an old feed tub when they were free-ranging, so I moved it into their stall... silly girls think there is room for 2 even in that.

Thanks, I’ll put them back in and mark them as well, ours are very similar besides size.
