Hi,

I have few bantam and australorp hens living together. I put some fake eggs in the nest to enforce the australorp to sit over them but unfortunately instead of australorp, one of the bantam's go broody and now she is sitting over them :)

I don't want the bantam to sit over the eggs as the eggs are of australorp and larger in size. The last time when batam sat over some 5-6 eggs only one egg was hatched successfuly.

Now the question is I want to end her broodiness, should I go for it?

thanks
C.

Bantams and broodiness go hand in hand. You can stop her if you want but she's just going to go broody again. Might be better to just set up a second nest and let her have 1 or 2 eggs to hatch.

Ok, I will add a second nest. Is it ok to add a second nest near her? Will she remember on which nest she was sitting?
