Is it ok to hens off roost in the evening to apply DE and Poultry dust

This may seem to be a silly question to some of you. I am pretty new to keeping chickens. We only have 3 hens. We had a red mite problem at the beginning of spring and took care of it and have not had a problem since. Well with all the leaves falling I started adding a lot of yard stuff in the run fore them to scratch around on. A week later I see signs of the mite problem again.

My question is instead of trying to catch them during the day could I just take them off the roost in the evening?

You can take them off of their roost in the evening to dust for mites. Lots of people do it, and it can be easier than chasing chickens around during the daytime.
