Ivermectin in the flocks water for Poultry Lice

I've been reading that Ivermectin can be added to the flocks water source. Does this work to treat poultry lice? Or do I have to apply it topically? Can it be added to water to essentially bathe the birds, or should it not be diluted at all? I know the coop is going to need to be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. I just lost one of my Ameraucauna hens and she had them crawling all over her. My chickens dust bathe regularly and typically make they're own spots to dust in. I've never had to deal with lice/mites before. I have a lot of birds (chickens, ducks, turkeys, bantam chickens and call ducks) what is the best way to treat the whole flock? I've read that ducks typically are not affected by lice/mites since they're always bathing in their water. What do I do for the rest of them? I plan on getting some DE and building them a designated dust bathing spot with it in there. I got some Ivermectin from tractor supply (the liquid pour on) cause I read that that works. Please help.

Are you dealing with Lice or Mites?

You need to I.D. the bug if possible.

Ivermectin will *treat* Mites, but the Mites have to bite the bird to get the dose that kills them.

You can find Permethrin based poultry dust at most feed stores. Dust each bird very well. Get some Permethrin spray and treat the housing. If you are dealing with mites, clean out the housing, throw away the bedding/bag it up or burn it. Then treat housing.

Ivermectin Pour On is administered topically only. Don't add it to water. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/mites-lice-now-hen-growling.1242981/post-19965544

From what I've been finding it appears to be poultry lice not mites, that I'm dealing with.
