Is it OK to use

I used a bottom of a clay pot to raise up the feeders and the water for my chicks is that clay OK to use.

I would use it if it is glazed. If it is not glazed I would not because it is porous and easy to get funky things growing on it

I dont think that would be a problem. If it gets dirty or grimey you can wash it off.
