is it okay for 1 ~ 4 week old chicks to eat grass?

Well, I went to tractor supply, got some chic grit. The only kind they had has 11% calcium. I hope it does okay for them. I put them out in their play yard and my daughter sprinkled some of the chick grit on the ground for them. Should I give it to them that way? in moderation, and how often?
