Is it okay to put four 1-2 day old chicks in with 7 1 week old chicks?

I have 5 EEs and 2 RIR, week old chicks right now. I wanted to pick up 4 BOs... Will they be OK together, or should I wait until next month when I can move the older chicks out to a (heated and sheltered) part of the coop?

At this age, you'd have little problems. I've successfully raised chicks together who were a week apart in age. No problem. That's about as far as I'd push it. A two week old chick is just too, too, shall we say "active"?

I just did it this morning 11, 2 day old blrw in with 3, 9 day old mutts. They're getting along great.... I even think the blrw's are taking over the brooder! Soooooo cute!

thanks all--- I guess I won't be doing it though--- I was planning on going and getting some Welsummers from one place on the 18th, but it turns out they will have BO's at the same time, so I will just wait until then... That way the older chicks will already be out living in the holding pen in the coop!

I had one chick hatch 2 days ago, and went and purchased 5 that were 5 days old from a local feed store.

My 2 day old is all over them, and the older ones just sleep. The 2 day old one is much stronger also.

I guess the 5 just had a rough first 5 days, and my hatched one has been personally cared for.
