Is it okay to use a rusty water dispenser?

My uncle use to raise chickens and gave me his old water dispenser. It has a little rust on the bottom and the water clears up when you pour it in. I'm still nervous about using it for my babies. Any thoughts?

I'm sure it's fine if that's all you have. Personally I'm not a big fan of using hand me down equipment. If you can afford a new waterer then I would get one when you have a chance. If not, then just use what you have and don't sweat it.
