Can I use dish washing liquid to clean their water dish? Not sure if residue can hurt them. I noticed some black stuff growing near thr bottom of the waterer, and I want to clean it properly. For now I've washed it with hot water, and added a splash of ACV.

Rinsing with a 10 % chlorox solution (as long as the waterer is not galvanized) generally controls algal growth.

Is it a plastic waterer? I've used dish soap to wash my girls waterer numerous times with seemingly no ill effects(just rinse it). The only other thing that I would mention is that ACV shouldn't be used in metal waterers simply due to the fact that vinegar will break down metals over time

A typical bleach solutiok is fine then?

Dish soap is fine....the minimal amount of residue to be had, especially after a good rinse, poses no risk.
