Hello
This is my first experiance incubating. Ive always raised chicks or let the mamma do the raising. But anyways, my hatch day was going on 5 days ago now. And with so many eggs unhatched I decided to let it go a couple more days out then 3 to be on safe side. We this morning I woke up to loud peeping thinking it was my sick chick. But behold! A baby chick in incubator. Is it possible for chocks to hatch 5 days late? And if so, what kind of damage can it have on the baby chick if any. Thank you.

It may be that the egg wasn't ready to hatch at the same time as the others. Only time will tell if your chick is ok.
When I incubate I will leave the eggs in for quite a few days after the main hatch - just in case!

What a little trooper! Did any chicks hatch on hatch day? Is there any other activity from the other eggs still left? Low incubator temps can stunt embryo growth, causing late hatches. If your power went out for a while or even if the hatching eggs were older before setting them in the incubator that can also delay hatch a bit. 5 days late is possible, you're looking at your sweet little fluffy ball of proof right in front of you! :jumpy
