We have a 3 month old BO roo, who tricked us into thinking he was a she, for MUCH longer than the other 2 boys who presented pretty early on that they were boys. In the end, it was his cockerel saddle feathers coming in that gave him away.
He's still young but I've only heard him crow twice now. Its very "teenage" sounding yet, and the two instances were about a week or more apart. He is the only roo in our little backyard flock of 5. He struts and is looking more rooster-y everyday, but he is...quiet? Is it possible this will continue? Or solely due to his age? Will he wake up one day and decide his crow sounds amazing and want to hear himself all day long? 🤔 I sort of figured, once he started, it would be continuous!
