is it possible to keep water cups from getting slimy?

Stop all slime and any green from growing water buckets by putting in clean water then sprinkle a little SATURDAY MORNING LIME on top of water.. NO OTHER LIME CAN BE PUT IN WATER. EVERYTIME YOU REFILL BUCKET SPRINKLE A LITTLE MORE ON TOP. GOOD FOR CHICKENS/SAFE FOR CHICKENS/ NO SLIME!

Hi,
I use the gravity-waterers with my chicks and they do get slimy, I haven't found a way to keep them clean besides washing/rinsing them every time I replenish the water. You could try a wire brush, I haven't tried it with the plastic waterers but they work really well for scrubbing algae off the metal waterers:)
No slime/ no algae if you sprinkle saturday morning lime on top of clean water. Posted at end of this group too.

We just use a 1/2 teaspoon of RV water freshener in our 5-gallon nipple bucket and they have crystal clear fresh water for a month.

Someone told me that bleach was one of the main ingredients. Well, maybe so, but we use it in our camper and all of our chicken waterers. It doesn't add extra calcium that FSL does as chicks and roosters shouldn't have that.
