My Americana looked like she was laying last week but all my eggs were brown. Sunday, all brown eggs. I checked several times so I'm certain there were no green eggs. Yesterday there were 2 green eggs! Is it possible for one chicken to lay 2 eggs within about 20 hours? I do have a 2nd americana but she's only about 16 weeks. I don't think she's old enough to start laying. What do you think?

When dogs give birth, the puppies come along at some what consistent intervals. If one of the puppies is larger, it can take a lot longer for that one and then the next one may come sooner. It's like there was a bit of a back-up in there. Don't you just love that scientific description.

I've wondered if that might happen with hens once in awhile. It normally takes a certain amount of time to create and lay an egg. If they had a delay with one egg, had trouble passing it for some reason, then another egg might still be moving along in the process, behind it. Once the troublesome egg got passed, the next egg would be laid sooner than normal.
