Is it really summer?

Yeah. We're toast come August. It's been in the mid 90s all week with heat index levels of around 105 ish. Ugg.

The chickens are having a wretched time of it. I've been tossing them frozen fruit and putting frozen litter bottles out there with them. So far no deaths, but it's miserable!

...can everyone in New England point their fans toward Texas? We could use some cold air blown down here! ...please?

all i can say about last week is that it was Bike week in NH. and this week is my sister's birthday. it always rains on her b-day! and usually it does during the beginning of bike week too!

I heard them refer to New England on the news the other days as having the year without a Summer. Im sure you gardens are doing fantastic

That global warming thing gets me! This planet is still recovering from a mini Ice age http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Ice_Age that took place just a few centuries ago. Trends of warmth and cold, rain and drought is what this natural world is all about. Though, I am no scientist and all this pullution and population growth must cause some reaction...

On a side note, I've been seeing these purple, painted, plywood, kite-shaped boxes on the back roads here in WV as well as PA and MD. Has anyone else been seeing these. They are hanging in the trees. Hubby thinks that they are bat houses put up by the state in order to combat our mosquito issues.
