Is it safe to feed them pond plants?

Hello,
we have a small fish pond that has hyacinth plants & some plant called water lettuce (?) Would it be ok for the chickens to eat these? The plants are growing quite prolificly & we toss out hand fulls every day. Has anyone fed pond plants to their chickens?

I'd throw some out and let them taste it, see if they like it. For some reason I'm thinking they won't like they hyacinth, can't remember if I tried that with my birds or not. The lettuce they might love. I'd been feeding mind duckweed by the bowl much of the spring and early summer til the water level get too low to reach. It really cut my feed bill down and the eggs were back to a nice bright orange.

Just wanted to be sure E1 understood Water Hyacinths are great food for poultry. Hyacinth are different and poisonous.
