is it safe

I have left over chick grower , my girls are now 16 weeks , is it safe to mix the remaining chick feed with the layer feed? Hate to throw it out ( seems like a waste of money )
My 22-week-old pullets are now all laying. I had ordered layer food when they were maybe 13? weeks old to have on hand. Of course they didn’t like it. 🙄 And in the meantime, I had read enough here to decide to keep them on the chick feed.

So I’ve been feeding them half chick/ half layer to use up the bag, fermented. This results in slightly higher protein than layer alone, BUT lower calcium. So I make sure that they have oyster and egg shells available.

They’re doing fine on the combined feeds. But I’m looking forward to the simplicity of having just the chick feed, plus the shell (and grit) on the side.

I kept my 5 hens on chick starter for their first 2.5 years of their lives. I wish I never started switching feed to textured and All flock and even grower. Now I'm all mixed up with layers/babies/and a rooster! I have no idea what to feed! I tend to go without corn and soy during summer. Not even sure if this is ok?! Oh well, love and learn! 🐓❤️
