Is it safe?

I Have 34 Quail eggs in my new bator and want to know

1.Would it be ok if I have my chickens hatch them and raise them?

2.Will they run away if I raise them seperate from my chickens and let them freerange.

well if you the chickens hatch them out they will be fine with the mama i do believe myself but im not sure when they get bigger

Yes, I hatch quail, pheasant, guinea, duck, geese and turkey under chicken hens.

With quail and pheasant, they want to leave the nest as soon as they hatch, so I keep mine in a pen so they cant get away from the hen.

What kind of quail are you hatching? After my quail and pheasants are old even to be on their own, they go in their own pen cause they will wonder off and not come back, some will hang around for awhile, but they almost always go.

I have ring necks and bob whites.................

when I hatch quail eggs under a hen I use the smallest hen I have and with the pheasant I use a med size hen............

My standards are polish and theyre only around 2 months old
I have bantam frizzles though. But to me a mom is a mom

except a bigger heavyer hen would break the small thin shelled eggs

Hi, I just found this post and I had a question along this same topic. I just put 7 A&M eggs under my silkie and I was wondering if anyone just takes the quail chicks away as soon as they hatch rather than letting the silkie try to raise them. I don't really have the room or the resources to give her a separate caged in area. She's not the greatest mom either but it's impossible to break her broodiness unless she hatches something.
