My hatch started two nights ago, yesterday afternoon a chick started to zip and quit. I gave it six hours before considering aid. So I followed the instruction in https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/guide-to-assisted-hatching-for-all-poultry.72886/ and finished the zip and put it back with a little coconut oil to soften the drying membrane. About 30 minutes later it hatched, once it dried off an odd behavior started where it wanted to look up all the time (like it is standing erect) and it's hea IMG_20200307_043340.jpg d seem c IMG_20200307_043326.jpg ocked back. At first, I thought it might be wry neck, but I don't have the experience to tell. I am a first-time hatcher and all the others are normal and happy. Sorry for the "prison bars", it is the black check in the front center.

Thanks for your aid

Have you given it any vitamin/electrolyte water? It could be as simple as a vitamin deficiency....only time will tell.
Try dipping it's beak into the solution if that doesn't work you will need to drip it into the beak one drop at a time.
That is the plan, I read the cure to wry neck was vitamin/electrolyte. I was just worried it might be something else. I'll give it a try and see what happens over the next couple of days. I haven't pulled him out yet as the chicks are still hatching, but he will need to get treatment.

Thanks

Thank you again boskelli1571, he is doing better with forcing him to drink the vitamin/electrolytes.

Confidence gained!
