Is it too cold for a silkie?

Aw poor cornish cross, their lot in life is bad enough without being used as heaters. Maybe you could make a cuddle box for your silkie, even a cardboard box within a bigger one. Just an opening in front and deep litter - then her own body heat will be held in and comfort her. Of course having some step sisters will be nice too.

Not these particular cornish crosses. They've got it made. Every bit as spoiled as the rest of my flock. Nothing is required of them other than enjoying their life, for however long they live happily and healthy.

I decided to purchase this: K&H Heated Resting Mat for Small Animals http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...mp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B000NVC7DO from amazon (the price dropped $3 a day later!)

I put it in the nest box with hay over the top and the silkie found it in no time. She seems happy now although she doesnt want to come out into the run. I have it plugged into a surge protector, but it seems well made so I shouldn't have to worry about the electrical.

Thank you all for your advice! My silkie thanks you even more!

I have three chickens in a small coop. One is a silkie the other two are bantam mixes (regular feathered). When is it too cold for a silkie? It is 39f this morning (much lower last night) and she is huddling in the coop by herself. Should I worry? I do have diapers and could bring her in, but I don't want to if I don't have to.

Thanks in advance!
If she is huddling she's obviously cold, please bring her inside or get a heat lamp of some sort.
