We are getting 24 day olds (various breeds) on Friday. We are in Ontario Canada and it is about 55 during the day and still quite cool at night. Is it too cool for them to be in a brooder with heat out in the garage? We have 17 other babies in the house right now as I wasn’t sure if it would be too cold out for them still, even with heat.

😬 Too cold for them. They will likely need some heat.

The ones inside are two days old. I’m bringing the other brooder inside today and they will all be inside 😊.

Like heat lamp over the brooder but brooder in the garage. Doesn’t matter though, I’m going to keep them all in 😊
Yes with a heat lamp is perfect! So if you change your mind then that is good either way!

Agree that they'd be fine in the garage if they have a heat source (ideally a brooder plate they can snuggle under for contact heat, otherwise the heat from a lamp may dissipate too much to keep them warm enough). My broody hatched chicks in a snowstorm a couple of weeks ago and they've been outside in the coop the whole time, with temps dipping below freezing at night and in the 40s-50s during the day. They've been fine. They spend an impressive amount of time out and about, only going under the hen to warm up periodically.
