That if you dangle a little chick by the 'scruff' of its neck and they either let their legs dangle down straight or pull them up will tell you if it's a girl or a boy?
 
I haven't really kept track but the one I did keep track did indeed end up turning out to be a boy. I think it is fairly accurate. I tried this when I got my Plymouth rocks and when I was doing it most of them( almost all of them

) said boy. Low and behold when they grew up I had 13 boys and 1 girl. That was after having to cull a few after they all got this weird disease.
 
No, it's an old-wives tale, and not a correct way of holding a chick. If it was actually accurate, the corporate egg industry wouldn't spend billions of dollars looking for other ways to accurately determine gender.
 
Good. I'm glad it's not accurate. The little Japanese bantam I'm hoping will be a girl reckons it's a boy by this method. And you're right, it feels awful holding the chick this way. I won't do it again. Brahmabreeder you sound like me. It's a boy explosion when I hatch chicks!!
