Feathers to lying around - ok it usually looks like a massacr happened around our chicken area - they are 12 week old leghorns and one meaty in the run and it is crazy how many feathers are lying around - is this a usual growing in phase?

I noticed alot of feathers around that time. It wasn't exactly a moult, but part of the feathering process?
