I just recently installed "dropping boards" in my coops and have just noticed what looks like very fine, plastic "shavings" in their fecal matter as I was cleaning the dropping boards. I'm estimating that what I see is less than 1/2 cm in length. It does not look like any "worm" that I have ever seen.

Pix just don't show it clearly, sorry. What I am seeing is translucent in color, kind of flakey

No one is losing any weight, acting any different. I guess this could have been the norm all along and since the dropping were in the pine shavings I never noticed it before.

Anyone have an idea or suggestion?

Thanks much in advance!!

BTW - it's snowing in ""Dixie"....about 2" in my yard right now

The chickens do put off small pieces of quill cover--I don't know the technical name. This is much more noticeable when they are molting. They are pretty much small and white. Does that sound like a possibility?

Makes me feel much better!!!! I try SOOOO hard to keep everything clean, sanitized (based on your 10 commandments), etc, etc.

I hated the thought of having to give them "drugs". I think I'll get them some pumpkin seeds and try that route as a natural treat/treatment "just in case".....
