So of course two days before my Cayuga ducklings arrive from Metzer's both my Cayuga and Khaki Campbell ducks go broody...
The ducklings arrived today, what are the chances that I could give them to my broody mamas and they would take care of them?
If they've only been broody a couple of days will they take the ducklings? Or if I need to wait longer how long is too long for the ducklings to accept the duck?
Also, do you think one duck will be better suited to raise them than the other? Should I just try giving 4 or 5 to the Cayuga duck? FWIW I got 10 ducklings.
And finally, what's the best way to introduce them. With chicks and hens in the past I just drop them in with the broody hen at night and they have always taken care of them....
Thanks for your thoughts!
