Is it wry neck? Update - she's worse. Another update. She's better

I've got a 12 week old Ancona pullet that all of a sudden can't lift her head. She's weak, but can stand- just not lift her head. I pulled her from the coop and put her in a dog crate inside. She's not eating or drinking and had a small, white and watery poo. She's laying down with her head on the floor if the cage. Her crop is small and hard.

If I go in there, she'll get up, but her beak touches the ground. She can lift it a little bit, but it looks like a lot of work for her. It looks like it's hard to control her head.

She went through 30 days of quarantine with an ancona roo and well summer pullet. I introduced her to my 2 one year old hens 2 weeks ago. It's been stressful for her as one hen has been really dominant. They have an escape area in the coop.

I gave her some poly vi sol- half a dropper. I also gave her a syringe of water.

Her neck is really long. As of today, it looks like a swan's neck- like an upside-down letter U. Her eyes were darting back and forth really fast, but she is not happy about being handled. She's very flighty.

I can't find any wounds. I saw her eat yesterday.

I'm gone all day tomorrow, but could /will take her to a local vet on Friday.

Any ideas? Anything specific I should do tomorrow am before I leave?

EtA, was really hoping someone would help me. She's better this afternoon. Eating and holding her head up. I'm shocked. Should I continue with the vitamins?

Eta. She's worse this am. Her neck looks twisted now, too. I gave more vitamins and cleaned her up. She's got that horrible white and electric green poo. I'm assuming it's a lack of food. She's not eating or drinking.

Any help?

Anyhow, she seems so much better. Eating oatmeal and bread soaked in olive oil right now. What's this all about?

Guess I will continue the vitamins. Should I add the vitamin e with selenium?

Yes, continue with the vitamins-that regimen is fairly long, I believe to treat wry neck.
The green in the poo is from her not eating.
They thing with her eyes is pretty odd, though. Not sure if that would be from wry neck or a head injury.
I sure hope she improves for you.

My turkey has wry neck and the experts on the turkey thread suggested that I treat with Vitamin E with selenium and that is what I have been doing. It's just a waiting game now.

Your girl will be ok.

I wondered that when you said you had just integrated her and had an aggressive hen?
Really, just keep an eye on her and keep treating her for wry neck-that's what I would do.
She hasn't been exposed to moldy feed or toxins, right?

I been breeding chickens myself for about 5 years. I've had white leghorns, barred rocks, silkies etc., This year was the first year that I ever had a chicken with the same thing your talking about. So I guess luckily it can't be too awful common. Mine didn't make it and she was one of my favorites.

It's weird to me because she was a healthy chick, ran all over the place in the house brooder. She ate well, she would drink well. Then all of the sudden I woke up one morning and she couldn't get her head up and she started walking sideways. It was horrible. I'm glad yours is doing better, thats wonderful.

Head injury is possible. Bully hen who was never like before. But she's annoyed about the new roo. I wonder if she really bonked this pullet. I'm shocked that she's better. Hope the same for your turkey!

I will continue the vitamins and look for the vitamin e.

It's a muddy spring, so moldy food is a possibility. Are you thinking botulism?

This is my turkeys 2nd time with it. He had it 14 months ago. The strangest thing is that he only gets it when he gets a respiratory problem. I can't figure out how the 2 conditions relate to one another.

Sorry for the loss of your favorite! That always stinks. We lost ours to a hawk 2 months ago. Stupid hawks.

Since the turkey has it twice, I'm now wondering if this will come back on my pullet.

She's still eating in there. Making up for lost time, I guess.
