Is Lavender blue based?

Hi! I have a question. Is the Lavender color blue based?
No, lavender is a diluting gene. I believe it will dilute any color if 2 copies of lavender are present (it is recessive so two genes must be present to express.)

In general, if trying to breed lavenders, people use black birds and lavender birds to create lavenders and black split to lavender. Most really avoid blue in lavender breedings, (I see this frequently in silkies) but if breeders aren’t careful, blue gets bred in, and then blue offspring pops up and things get very muddled, as the blues are sometimes confused with lavenders, etc.
