In theory they should be more alike than different, but in practice there can be a range from straw colored through a light orange or light buff color. Part of that comes other genes that may be in the birds as well as if the bird is based on a buff or sex linked gold. To me buffs tend to be more orangish and golds more straw like depending upon the other colors on the bird. Buff blue crosses tend to look more orangish and gold blue crosses tend to be more straw light with the Cochins Which I'm familiar. I'm sure much is also depended upon which of the E alleles are present as well.
