Is light from an infared bulb (heat bulb) considered "day light"

In all of the books I have been reading, they say to monitor the amount of light on our laying pullets - 22 hours the first week, 18 the second, yada, yada, yada. We purchased a clear infared bulb, which gives a lot of light! Here's my question. If we turn the light off for two hours per day during the first week, will they get too cold?
