Is mash really *this* messy? Or is this something else

Be cautious in feeding today's spoiled milk. Milk now is so ultra-pasturized for long shipping and storage that it often does not sour in the good way....from naturally occuring cultures, as in yogurt and sour cream.....but will often ROT instead. So use your nose....a sour smell is good, a "bad" smell is, well, bad! It can go either way, depending on what happened to the milk between the cow and your fridge.

I'll be getting my first pregnant dairy goat in a few days, hopefully, so will likely have some extras for the chickens, definitely some fresh whey from making cheese. I remember my mother putting five-gallon pails of fresh cow's milk in the pantry to sour for cheesemaking, and it often took a week for this to happen! Now that is fresh milk! And we panic if we leave the store-bought milk out for an hour. I can't wait to have real milk again. Not available in my area.
