I have posted about her before. But this week she has some changes I was noticing. Such as some new feathering coming out at the nape of her neck, I heard her go crrrr... a couple of times since she was 2 wks, She was very loving at first week but is now very skittish and always runs away as opposed to the other friendly birds who trust me by now. She is also smaller in size and slower at feathering and has two feathers that curves downwards as a tail, her comb is pinker this week than the other chickens. My question is if she is still a pullet thankyou so much for to BYC for this forum. 20190502_201220.jpg 20190502_201220.jpg 20190502_201050.jpg 20190502_201105.jpg

It does look a lot like a cockerel to me. Although, the comb is surprisingly small for 5 weeks if it was a cockerel. The comb is more orange than red. Here is a picture of my friend’s 6 week old Millie Fluer D’uccle cockerel to compare.

He is a week older, although his comb is really big!
Other than the comb,
I don’t see any distinctive marking on your pretty little bird that show that it is a rooster. I would honestly say pullet.
Hope this helps!
He/She is really pretty!

I'm keeping an eye on this sort of thing and worrying. We have 4 chicks now that in theory are pullets, the 90% chance allegedly. Our Easter Egger, Cera, is the biggest, and the most inquisitive, and holds her head up the most, and my daughter and I are really getting attached to her personality - so I'm SO hoping she's actually a she, as we'd have to get rid of a rooster. But it's way too early to tell. I told myself I wouldn't worry about it early, and yet I am.

It's starting to look like a cockerel. Look for rust colored patches growing in on the feathers...especially on the shoulders. In a few weeks the markings should be a sure tell.

Remember that Easter Eggers have a different comb shape than your friends chick (which has a straight comb). So it will not have a large comb but the amount of red at only 5 weeks is making this look like a cockerel. Here is my 6 week EE pullet.

Hi!
Yes, the combs are different. I was mainly showing the redness in the comb although the difference in comb is something that I forgot to mention.
Thank you! :D
