Good idea. I can definitely do that. I was just going to go by what the weather showed the temp was, but a thermometer would probably be much better.

The outside of the coop is pretty much completely open. On the right hand side there is another storage shed almost the same size as the coop, but there's probably 4-5 feet in between the two. There's pretty much nothing within probably 20 foot of the rest of the coop other than the run. The run is, I believe, around 40 foot long and it stops just under two trees. I'll get some pictures of everything outside this evening, but that's pretty much it.

After putting the thermometers up, it's definitely not hotter inside the coop than outside, but it's not much cooler either. Although, I guess I don't know know how it could be cooler. As long as it's as cool in there as it is in the shade I think everyone will be fine, right?

I also bought a 5 gallon waterer and was able to fit it in the chick pen so no more running out of water for those little girls.

They all looked happy and healthy, albeit a little hot. Hopefully we won't lose any more.
